Good Photography has always spoken volumes to conscience viewers. In this day and age, some of the most dramatic stories are told in the media and the images captured that come to define a moment in time, event, person, etc. Recent events surrounding the black lives matter movement have caused an unsettling amount of disunity among some who insist we focus on the fact that all lives matter. while this is true - it is especially important to note the lives in our society that have been greatly intentionally disadvantaged in the past and also in many ways are discriminated against today. Looking through eyes can tell stories. Stories ou may not ever know, but perhaps can relate to and anticipate in a relation that comes from being another human being. Take the time to examine this collection of Black Male Portraits by photographer Gerald L. Campbell The I AM BECOMING book came out today: A collection of poetry and photography by Artists Propaganda and Squint, respectively.
Two forms of art most commonly overlooked and perhaps over appreciated: the intertwining of these branches leads to the very roots of this art tree. Appreciate and recognize, no doubt, but also understand that no stem coming from the roots of this tree exist solely on their own, but with heat, energy, oxygen, water, etc. that comes from the creator and caretaker. Respect. this project is: "the photojournalistic journey of Propaganda’s poetry through the lens of Oakland-raised Kristopher Squints. Most of Prop’s poetry has only existed in the sphere of musical performance until this point. This book is an expression of their shared passion for literature, visual arts, and cultural reformation. " Amazing to see one form embracing and communizing with another. May the GROWTH continue. |
